The word "inevitable" has for me become the most troubling four syllables in modern language.

It rolls off the tongues of tech executives with the confidence of prophets delivering divine revelation. Sam Altman calls AGI inevitable. Jensen Huang calls the AI revolution inevitable. Every startup pitch deck, every venture capital thesis, every breathless tech journalist preaches the same gospel: resistance is futile, adaptation is survival, and the future is a freight train with no brakes.
